Nurse-RN/LPN Temporary

THIS IS A TEMPORARY SUMMER POSITION

DATES ARE: May 20, 2019 through August 16, 2019. 

SHIFT: Monday -Friday 8:00 AM -5:00 PM

JOB SUMMARY: The Camp Nurse aids children and staff with medical assistance such as, first aid, medication administration, seizure monitoring, communicable disease monitoring, and treatment orders. This person will also provide proper documentation when appropriate or required based on the situation. The Camp Nurse will also have the ability to remain calm in stressful or emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Kansas required.
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. CPR certified with 30 days of hire required.
  • Minimum of 1 year working with special needs/young children in a school/medical setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess campers for possible communicable diseases and discern appropriate time for exclusion from camp activities, due to illness.
  • Teach and model proper body mechanics, Universal Precautions and Infection Control.
  • Provide first aid and assess level of medical assistance needed.
  • Monitor seizure activity and document appropriately. See HCP’s (health care plans for seizures)
  • Organize and administer medications and treatments per orders.
  • Provide a calming demeanor when stressful situations arise.
  • Provide excellent technical, assessment, and documentation skills.
  • Organize work flow and respond to emergencies.         
  • Must be able to effectively deal with children and co-workers in a professional manner.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must comply with agency and departmental safety policies and procedures.
  • Must have ability to read and write the English language.
