“I love getting to see the changes that children make and the opportunity to work with the whole family,” said Gail Laochinda, Rainbows’ Infant/Toddler services Physical Therapist.
Gail has a degree in physical therapy from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She has served at Rainbows since 2013. As a member of the Sedgwick County Infant/Toddler services team, Gail makes 4-6 home visits a day to improve each child’s development. Gail also attends playgroups and hydrotherapy sessions.
“My biggest achievement has been the relationships I have been able to develop with the families that I serve,” Gail said.
Gail’s favorite moment of serving at Rainbows occurred during a home visit. During the visit, the little girl took steps on her own using a push toy for the first time. “Her mother started crying she was so happy,” Gail said. “It was an awesome moment to witness.”
Moments like this reassure Gail of her choice to become a physical therapist. Being able to share in a child’s first time crawling, walking, and speaking is an amazing experience with families.
Not only does Gail enjoy the families she works with but her co-workers as well. “I love the support of all the staff, everyone loves their job and are always supportive,” Gail said.
In her time outside of Rainbows, Gail likes to travel, hike and geocache. She also enjoys spending time playing with her family at the park and zoo.
