The value of continued service

Ongoing Volunteers

Peter Hampel’s 10th Annual Luau was a special evening, with over 577 people in attendance at Tanganyika Wildlife Park. Among those 577, we had 25+ individuals on-site to volunteer. Volunteers were used in nearly every aspect of event staffing – from face painters to photographers, drink-makers to ticket-sellers, and all the tasks in between.

The Luau, as with all of Rainbows’ special events, would not be possible without the generous donation of time and effort given by volunteers. As the Volunteer Coordinator, I always hope people enjoy their volunteer experience with Rainbows, and leave feeling appreciated by us as an agency. Volunteer work is truly invaluable, and a main goal of mine is to make sure volunteers recognize that.

Having returning volunteers gives me confidence that these people are enjoying their time and engaging in positive experiences. This in turn helps create community advocates for Rainbows’ mission. Among this year’s Hampel Luau volunteers, 14 had volunteered for Rainbows previously, and 7 of them are current Rainbows’ employees. What a wonderful display of recurring service by this group!

Thank you for giving to Rainbows – in the past, present and hopefully the future. Your dedication and commitment to supporting Rainbows is evident through your repeated willingness to volunteer! We are grateful for your continued support and want you to KNOW it.

We are now recruiting volunteers for Rainbows’ next special event – Fashion Passion! Wichita’s signature event is scheduled for Friday, November 17, 2017 at Textron Aviation Activity Center.

On this night, 650+ guests will celebrate 13 years of Fashion For A Purpose to benefit a truly beautiful cause – children with special needs at Rainbows.

Help make a difference in the lives of children with special needs by getting involved. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Sidni Garwood, at sgarwood@rui.org for more volunteer information today!
