Addison “Addie” Schwemmer is a smart, loving, happy, fun, silly, and adventurous two-year-old who received occupational therapy services through Rainbows Butler County Infant Toddler Services. Addie developed typically but was born premature. When she was behind on a few motor skills her doctor suggested her mother, Jordan, to call Rainbows.
Addie’s progress was monitored by her Occupational Therapist, Kristen Shideler, who holds moments of success near and dear to her heart. One of thosemoments happened with Addie and Jordan. Kristen shared, “Addie worked really hard on strength and coordination during our visits. I remember when she mastered a squat and could bounce while standing to dance with her mom.” Kristen explained that Jordan was overjoyed, as she cheered for Addie saying, “Go Addie, go Addie, go!”
Jordan feels that Rainbows has impacted their family greatly. She believes that Rainbows has given their family the tools and tips to help get Addie caught up. She then moves on to say, “Without the help, we probably would have struggled and taken longer to get Addie to where she is now.” Jordan expressed that, “Rainbows is an incredible organization! The staff we worked with were very nice, listened to our concerns and helped us set realistic goals that we were able to meet on time or even ahead of time.” She continued by saying, “Rainbows also shared fun activities that were happening in the area that they thought we would enjoy!”
Jordan, her husband Evan, and Addie enjoy playing outside and going to various parks in Augusta. They are expecting their second child and Addie is super excited to be a big sister. Addie loves dinosaurs, to play with other kids, give hugs, watch Miss Rachel, and practice caring for her new sibling with her baby dolls. Jordan knows that Addie is going to be a big help with the new baby and is looking forward to Addie continuing to build her skills as she gets older.
