Kids’ Point Assistant Teacher Paula Madsen says, “Developing relationships with our children and their families has been my biggest achievement at Rainbows.”
Paula received her Associate’s Degree in Child Care and Guidance from Barton County Community. She brings 18 years of experience serving children with special needs, latchkey programs and teaching infants and toddlers with her to Rainbows. She chose Rainbows because of her love of children.
“Seeing the children grow and develop through the years in which they are at Rainbows is my favorite part of the job,” said Paula. “I have seen them come in as babies and then leave at 5 years of age so grown up.”
“Paula’s experience in all aspects of early education are so valuable to our team,” said Michelle Croomes, Early Care & Education and CBETS Coordinator. “She can work with any age group, make an impromptu song about any topic, and she can sub in at the front desk or the kitchen without breaking a sweat! We are so lucky to have her as a part of the Rainbows’ family.”
Paula not only brings her love of children into the classroom, but she also brings her love of Rainbows into volunteering at events. Paula joined the Rainbows’ team in 2016 and immediately began volunteering. “My husband and I volunteer together and we have fun and help others,” she said. “It is fun to see people coming together for the good of others.”
Paula and Jim have volunteered at Fashion Passion, Peter Hampel’s Annual Luau, Old Chicago events, Thunder Hockey game nights, and Rainbows’ Runs. “You get to see big smiles on the faces of those that you are helping,” said Paula.
When she’s not teaching or volunteering with Rainbows, Paula enjoys cooking, looking for bargains and spending time with her granddaughters.
