Camp Woodchuck

Youth with Special Needs Form Bonds with Innovative Summer Staff

Camp Woodchuck’s theme this summer is “Ride the Wave” and we are excited to announce we have 46 Campers riding the wave into a fun summer experience!

We are providing an In-home Camp experience where each Camper has a Camp Counselor that goes to the family’s home with a backpack full of supplies, activities, energy and fun. Arts and crafts, science experiments, outdoor activities and field trips are all part of riding the wave throughout the summer.

Through the generosity of the Sedgwick County Zoo, Exploration Place, Botanica and the Y, the Campers are invited to explore different Wichita venues and experience new sights, sounds and activities. Direct Service Professional Saylis Sengvilay and her Camper, Tanner Crum, work out at a Y Zumba Class every morning!

Camp Woodchuck is up and running with our Special Events. The Fashion Show, the Talent Show and the Art show highlight Campers’ personalities and showcase their creativity and talents. The first event, the Camp Fashion Show, is a time for the Camper to show off their personality with an outfit they pick out and walk the red carpet. The Camp Counselor helped the Camper pick out their outfit and took pictures and videos as they walked the red carpet. It is fun to watch them smile and pose!

Watch the Camp Woodchuck Fashion Show video here. It will warm your heart and make you smile. Then get ready for the Talent Show and the Art Show videos later in July. Videos will be shared on social media, YouTube and the Rainbows’ website.
