The Clements family has two children that are a part of Rainbows and attend childcare services throughout the week. Charlotte “Charli” is three years old, and Conner is eight months old. Conner spent time in the NICU when he was first born due to pneumomediastinum but was very quickly released. Both children are developing typically, and according to their mom, Laramie, are getting a head start on their schooling thanks to Rainbows.
The Clements were searching for childcare near their home and feel like they were lucky when finding Rainbows. They have been a part of Rainbows for the last three years and have had interactions with several teachers who have cared for Charli and Conner. Miss Stefanie is just one of those teachers and she expressed that “Conner is a very motivated go getter! Charli was shyer than her brother as an infant, but she was sweet and quiet. Conner is loud and proud. Their parents are very nice, and easy to talk too.” Laramie has been especially pleased that the staff has been consistent during these three years. She stated, “the same main teachers that were teaching and helping Charli as an infant are still there for Conner as he grows and learns.” Laramie goes on to say, “children thrive off routine and the relationships they build with the teachers. It has been helpful having the same staff members and seeing familiar faces, as there is that extra layer of comfort.” Having Charli and Conner from the beginning, Rainbows staff have been able to help the Clements through the hard times, like starting to eat solid foods and potty training. Laramie expresses that, “the teachers all try to do as you desire as a parent and really honor your wishes.”
Charli is a smart, loving, kind, funny, and active three-year-old. She has taken swim lessons and has recently started gymnastics. She loves helping people and understands how to help without being told or asked. Laramie states, “She is the best big sister and always tries to help Conner. Watching her light up after doing the right thing is a gift to see.” Conner is overall a happy baby that loves watching and laughing at his sister. “Listening to him laugh can make anyone smile. We are excited to watch their bond grow”, says Laramie.
Having Rainbows as a consistent pillar for the Clement family shows in more than one way. On days that Laramie invites Charli to stay at home, Charli insists on going to school. Laramie says that “it helps rest your heart knowing your children are comfortable going to Rainbows. The Clements have also noticed the benefits of having Charli and Conner around children with special needs. Due to this, Laramie noticed that Charli has developed empathy and compassion at a very young age. Not only does she show this to her parents, but also her brother. As Conner is getting older, the Clements feel like he is progressing through the baby stages very quickly. It has caught them by surprise when Conner comes home and can roll over, sit up on his own, and pull himself up onto things. Laramie also states, “it takes some pressure off me as a mom knowing there are other people in your corner to help my children learn things that other kids their ages are learning and exposed to.”
The Clements family is full, now that they have Charli and Conner. They thrive off each other’s energy and daily wins. While the parents have a normal work week, they always make sure to do things that engage Charli and Conner or have them try new things. Time goes by so fast, so they also make sure to slow down and reset when it’s needed. The children are their main focus. They are excited to see what the future brings for Charli and Conner, as they grow and learn together.
