Demarcos

DSP Keeps Him Safe and Shares Fun

When Demarcos’ mother noticed he wasn’t reaching his developmental milestones, she knew to call Rainbows. It turns out his older sister received early intervention services a few years before. “We had experience with Rainbows in our home for our daughter and we knew we needed help again with Demarcos,” said Yusleidy “Juice”, their mother.

The family once again connected to Rainbows for early intervention and then Targeted Case Management services for Demarcos. Staff helped the family get an Autism diagnosis for their son and then helped him transition to Little Elementary for school. The family knows Rainbows has the answers to their questions. “Rainbows has been so helpful from the beginning for our family,” said Juice. “They know what options there are at every age for our son who needs some extra help; and that means a lot.”

Now at age 11, Demarcos is an active, healthy boy. He receives both Targeted Case Management and Family Support Services (FSS). Through FSS, a Rainbows’ Direct Support Professional (DSP) comes to his home to stay with him after school and at times when his family is working. “We appreciate our DSP,” said Juice. “She helps our family not stress about keeping Demarcos safe at home after school. She is always kind and knows what he likes. They have so much fun together.”

“Demarcos is a great kid,” said Tiffany Graf, Family Support Services Coordinator. “I’m glad we are getting to know him and his family at this stage of his growing up.”
