Two-year-old Logan receives speech/language services through Rainbows’ Sumner County Infant Toddler Services. Logan works with therapist Katie Bally. “Because of the speech therapy Logan is receiving, he is finally able to say real words that can be understood,” Sarah, Logan’s mom, said. “He continues to learn new words every day; however, he is still behind.”
Communication can still be frustrating. “Rainbows has helped make improvements on how to communicate better with Logan,” said Sarah. “He gets frustrated when we don’t know what he wants because he cannot communicate by saying what he wants. Logan is doing much better by using new words. Some of his words are hard to understand, but he is making progress.”
Logan was born prematurely and was referred to Rainbows by his doctor, although his sister also received services. Logan is very loving, and such a cuddle bug. He gives the best hugs; however, he is a boy and plays hard and is an absolute monkey.
“Logan is such a fun toddler,” said Katie. “He loves exploring and playing with his trucks and cars. Logan also loves putting his puzzles together and has gotten really good at them.” His language development has started taking off in the past few months. “I am so excited for the progress he is making,” said Katie. “Watching him grow and develop is the best part of my job, and I will miss working with him and his family when he turns three this October!”
Logan climbs on everything, and when he falls and gets hurt, he wants his ouchy kissed, and then he is on his way. His favorite superhero is Hulk, and he loves tractors, trucks, construction vehicles, cars, and monster trucks. “Logan has the best laugh, and he loves to be tickled,” said Sarah.
Logan lives with his mom Sarah, dad, Ross, and has an older sister, Ariya who will be 5 five years old. “We love to be outside,” said Sarah. “Logan just got a bike with training wheels that he loves to ride. He likes to help his dad fix things and work with tools. Logan follows his sister around and likes to do whatever she does.” Logan loves to do crafts, color, and paint.
Logan loves reading books. “His absolute favorite book is ‘Good Night, Good Night, Construction Site,’” said Sarah. “His bedtime routine includes reading this book before bed. He has toy trucks to go along with the book that he ‘puts to bed.’” Logan likes all the Nibbles books and “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” “He basically likes any activity book, or books about construction vehicles, Lightening McQueen, or Hulk.
