When their daughter, Rylee wasn’t rolling over from her back to her tummy and had just turned a year old, Angela and Christopher connected to Rainbows through USD 259’s Parents as Teachers program. “Rylee began receiving Physical and Speech Language Therapy and within a week of starting physical therapy, she was rolling over,” said Angela. “Her speech has been a little slower to catch on because of her self-confidence, but we’re working on it.”
“Rylee’s family is full of such positive energy and has the best toys,” said Cynthia Iseman, Speech Language Pathologist. “Mom and dad truly are dedicated to giving Rylee and her brother the best possible early start in life! I work with Rylee to increase her expressive language. She may not always talk a lot, but she knows how to communicate. She is using more words every time I go to visit. She loves baby dolls and we seem to hear the most words when we are playing with them. She has the best laugh.
“We are very thankful for Rainbows and the services we have received,” said Angela. “I would like to tell other parents not to be afraid to ask for help if you think your child might be delayed in an area of development.” Any parent with a concern about their child’s development can call Rainbows at 316.267.5437 for a free assessment.
The family loves to spend time together. Their favorite places to go are Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri and Table Rock Lake.
