Vincent is a cheerful, happy two-year-old that has been receiving services through Rainbows Butler County Infant Toddler Services for a little over a year. He was diagnosed with Autism at only eleven months old, which caused his family doctor to make a referral to Rainbows. Rainbows has been part of Vincent’s development since then.
When services began, the family set many goals when it came to Vincent’s walking, talking, and eating. Vincent’s dad, Kyle, shared “He went from not walking at all, to sprinting through the house like a crazy man.” Kyle also expressed that Vincent was struggling to eat anything at all prior to services, and now he eats almost anything he puts his mouth on. He also noted improvements to Vincent’s fine motor skills and appreciates all the help from Rainbows Speech/Language Pathologist, Kimberly Stewart, for being there along the way.
Kimberly has been helping Vincent since the beginning and is still helping him learn how to talk and communicate. While working with him, she has been able to see how much Vincent loves to dance to theme songs from TV shows and nursery rhymes. As soon as someone starts to sing a familiar song, Vincent will stop what he is doing and start to dance. Kimberly has also seen a great bond he has built with his grandma, who is at his house at least once a week. She shared that he “loves spending time with her.”
Vincent’s parents, Kyle and Courtney, make sure to give the entire family as many experiences as possible. They also have 6 and 7-year-old girls. Realizing how important extra-curricular activities are, the girls are involved with different sports and pageants. As Vincent gets older, Kyle is looking forward to seeing what activities Vincent might be interested in. The family also makes sure to take time to travel, go on vacations, and visit the YMCA.
