More than one million dollars raised in FY 2016

From the President

Rainbows’ fiscal year ended June 30, 2016. For the first time in our 44 year history, Rainbows raised a record $1,011,000 in fundraising for operations and services! Breaking through the one million dollar ceiling has been our focus for the last two years. Rainbows has been successful raising millions of dollars for special projects such as capital campaigns and decreasing our debt during our restructuring period. We have not, however, been able to reach that $1 million annual goal for services and general operations.

Not-for-profits such as Rainbows serve an important role in the community. We perform this role by providing specific services that relate to our Mission Statement “Rainbows enhances the lives of children with special needs and their families by bringing together community resources and providing customized services”.

Rainbows is not able to carry out its Mission without accessing a number of different funding resources. We cannot depend on one source of funding, but instead, we diversify the financial support we receive. We focus on these major areas for fundraising: special events, individual and corporate sponsorships, in-kind gifts, grants, foundations, major gifts, and annual giving campaigns.

With funds decreasing from governmental entities or remaining flat at best, it is critical to increase our fundraising efforts. Because of that, Rainbows’ goal for our current fiscal year is $1,100,000. So here we go again; we cannot be successful without the support of many. It takes an entire team of staff and community volunteers to be able to maximize the funding resources. I hope you will continue to give so families of children birth to age 21 can depend on needed services for their children. On behalf of the children and families served, thank you for your support.
