Holy Cross Lutheran church beautifies our Kids' Point location.

LOVE Wichita 2016 comes to Rainbows United

Beginning in 2009, LOVE Wichita was the dream of Eastminster Church. Their vision was to create a faith-based day of service to prosper the city of Wichita. Churches from all across the city participate, and many local and national companies have partnered with LOVE Wichita to provide some of the materials and assist with project costs. Projects accomplished through this day are submitted by various City and County departments, area schools, local non-profits, and participating churches. In their first year, LOVE Wichita had the involvement of 20 churches that completed 150 projects. Growing with each year, LOVE Wichita was able to fulfill nearly 250 projects with the help of over 40 different churches last year.   Each year since its inception, Rainbows has been the beneficiary of volunteer groups through LOVE Wichita. On Saturday, April 30, 2016, volunteers from Holy Cross Lutheran Church spent their morning beautifying our Kids’ Point location. They brought over 20 participants of all ages, good attitudes, and lots of mulch! They worked diligently pulling weeds, spreading mulch, planting flowers, and trimming trees.

This year, Rainbows submitted some special project requests for our playground space. Holy Cross was able to fund and build an outdoor Music Wall for Rainbows’ children. This will be a fun addition our kids are sure to love! It provides a fun way for them to create beautiful noise outdoors, as warmer weather is on the horizon. Speaking of warm weather, Holy Cross volunteers also helped equip our outdoor pergola with some long-awaited shade material that will shelter the children on those extra hot Kansas days! We could not be more grateful for the community support we receive from LOVE Wichita volunteers. Kids’ Point is looking beautiful and summer-ready thanks to you! See you next year!
