Reaches Milestone

RAINBOWS RUN RAISES $20,300 MILESTONE IN
SUPPORT OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IN BUTLER COUNTY

Augusta, KS – More than 250 people participated in Rainbows Run events Saturday, May 5 in Augusta. Both the family fun walk and the timed 5K took place on city streets.

Net proceeds of more than $20,300 will benefit children birth – 21 with special needs served through Rainbows’ two Butler County services: Targeted Case Management, and Bright Beginnings Infant/Toddler Services. “This amount is an all-time event milestone,” said Angela Kessler, Rainbows’ Vice President of Development. “We appreciate the commitment of community support for Rainbows’ services throughout Butler County.”

Overall male 5K winner was Aaron Powers with a time of 24:07 minutes, and the overall female 5K winner was Lilliana Bohlken with a time of 24:05 minutes.

This year’s event featured children’s activities, B98 personalities Lukas and Careth, FlutterBye Mobile Diner, contests, and music.

More than 100 volunteers came together in support of the event. Volunteer groups from Augusta High School NHS, Sunflower Bank, Augusta Dillons, McConnell Air Force Base, Army National Guard, White Eagle Credit Union, and Rotary Club of Andover were on hand to help make the event a success.

“It’s great to see the Butler County community and our Rainbows’ families come out and celebrate together,” said Deb Voth, Rainbows United President. “The city of Augusta and Lincoln Elementary School were wonderful hosts.”
