Irvin is 20 years old and is full of energy, laughter, and charisma. Irvin was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome and has received support from Rainbows United since he was just six months old. His progress over the years has been nothing short of inspiring.
Throughout the years, Irvin’s personality has transformed thanks to at-home care and participation in various Rainbows programs, like Camp Woodchuck. He used to be more reserved, but now he’s known for being funny, outgoing, and always up for a friendly conversation with someone new. His family has seen a significant improvement in his confidence and social life, crediting a large part of it to the programs and people at Rainbows.
“Rainbows has filled in with so much support for myself and for my children,” Irvin’s mother said. “Being a single mother, it can be tough raising children, especially when they have special needs. Rainbows has made a big difference.”
In addition to Rainbows services, the family support that Irvin has received adds to the value of his journey. His older siblings, Edwin and Ashley, not only look after him at home, but also work directly with Rainbows. Their dedication, especially while juggling college, work, and other responsibilities, demonstrates the determination the family has for Irvin’s success.
Irvin is also enrolled in a Project LIFE program, where he is developing communication and work skills. Learning these life skills are part of the family’s plan to help him become an independent and fulfilled young man.
