Kylie Storm

Direct Support Professional

Kylie Storm has been a categorical caretaker educator for seven years in the schools. Her principal recommended Rainbows to her. “She thought it would be a good fit for me,” said Kylie. Kylie is a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Camp Woodchuck this summer for the first time. She is pursuing a degree in Early Language Development at Cowley College. “I was a Direct Support Professional for 12 years before I worked at USD 259 Cessna Elementary,” said Kylie.

“My biggest achievement that I have accomplished at Camp Woodchuck is building relationships with some of the more difficult kids in our room; they keep things interesting,” said Kylie. “And then you get to see the progress you’ve made with them.” A normal workday for Kylie is to come in and get her morning greetings from the boys in her classroom. “The best part of the day is when the boys are all excited to see me and get their hugs,” Kylie said.

“No matter who we are assigned to, we are a little family. My favorite part of the job is the relationship I have built with the kids.” Kylie’s favorite memory of Rainbows was the progress that she made with Zander. “It started out really rough, and now he loves being with his favorite people,” said Kylie. She loves hanging out with the kids in her classroom. “Kylie does a great job building relationships with the kids,” said Tiffany Graf, the Family Support Services Coordinator. “She really enjoys working at Rainbows.”

Some of Kylie’s favorite hobbies are reading; she reads whenever she gets a chance. She also likes to draw and journal. “I read everything,” Kylie said. “I don’t stick to one genre. If it sounds good, I read it.” Kylie has three kids, a seventeen-year-old daughter who will graduate next year, a fifteen-year-old son, and a thirteen-year-old daughter. “I love to spend time with them, whenever I have the chance,” said Kylie.
