Awarded to outstanding staff members who exemplify our guiding principles.

2015 Prism Award Winner: Selena Phillips

One of Rainbows’ Guiding Principles is to be positive, celebrate success and recognize achievements. The Prism Award was created two years ago to recognize an outstanding staff member who exemplifies the Guiding Principles. Selena Phillips, Case Records Assistant, was the recipient of the 2015 award. The Prism Award was so named because of the uniqueness and many facets of a prism. A prism reflects light and turns it into a Rainbow.  It signifies creating masterpieces and enduring beauty.  The Prism Award is given in appreciation of a staff member who reflects quality and value in the work they do with children, families, each other and the community on behalf of Rainbows.

Selena has worked for Rainbows for 23 years providing support for the Case Records department. Selena achieves success at Rainbows through teamwork, partnerships and collaboration. She has a degree in business administration from Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin and is a lifelong learner. She is passionate about making the New Testament of the Bible relevant to everyday life and posts regularly to spirit-to-soul.com. Over the years Selena has processed records for tens of thousands of children and has had the joy of seeing how many have progressed and overcome developmental challenges.

Selena said, “I have been blessed to witness the cumulative work of little miracles through teachers and therapists that produce great achievements in walking, talking and cognitive enhancement for children who would otherwise have been left behind.”

Selena has earned the respect and admiration of her co-workers as a role model of professionalism and living our Guiding Principles: putting children and families first, actively listening and effectively communicating, and operating with honesty, integrity and accountability. As the 2015 Prism Award winner, Selena’s name has been placed on a plaque displayed at Kids’ Point where other future winners’ names will be added each year. She also received a Krug art piece as well as a check for $1,000. Read more about Selena here.
