Rachel Banning

President

Rachel Banning became President of Rainbows as President in June 2024. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Wichita State University and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive.

“Rainbows holds a special place in my heart. Leading this esteemed and crucial community Agency is a responsibility I deeply respect. I eagerly anticipate upholding the strong groundwork laid before me and envisioning a bright future ahead,” said Rachel.

A lifelong Wichitian, she has been involved with Junior League of Wichita since 2016; she served as President of the organization 2019 – 2021. She is a member of Downtown Wichita Rotary, a board member of Phillips Fundamental Learning Center, a member of Leadership Wichita class of 2018, plus she was recognized by the Wichita Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 honoree in 2012.

Rachel has previous experience as Executive Director at The Orpheum Performing Arts Centre, Families Together as a Center Director and is co-owner of Special Products, LLC a durable medical supply company.

“We believe Rachel is well qualified to lead Rainbows to the next level,” said Pat Gearhart, Board Chair. “Her professional and personal experiences make her well equipped to identify with staff and families served. I could not be more excited for the Agency at this time.”

Rachel and her husband Jeremy are parents of two children who both received services from Rainbows in years past. She remembers those days with gratitude. “So many years ago, I was on the other side of this relationship. When both Mia (2000 – 2013) and Dylan came into our lives,” said Rachel.

“Rainbows was literally the moment the sun hit the rain creating the most beautiful and magical spark of hope for our young family struggling with a new world of uncertainty. With the help and guidance of Rainbows, we were able to find a path forward that celebrated the incredible gifts our children have. There is no denying the impact Rainbows has – my family is one of the thousands impacted.”
