Campers Celebrate All Summer Long

Camp Woodchuck’s theme for summer of 2022 is a birthday party theme in celebration of Rainbow’s 50th Birthday! Camp Woodchuck began providing a fun, summer experience for children with special needs in 1997.

This summer, 38 campers ranging in age from 6 to 18 years old will be treated to an in-home camp experience like no other. The campers will spend their summer days enjoying a variety of hands-on structured activities and special events including a fashion show, a talent show and an art show. Campers will show off their own individual talent in performances at the talent show, model their fashion with a fashion show, and display their creativity creating pieces of art for the art show.

Exciting field trips and special events out in the community are all part of the Camp Woodchuck experience. Campers will visit the Sedgwick County Zoo, Botanica and Exploration Place, go bowling and take in some movies.

Other fun-filled social experiences are planned with other campers this summer. McConnell Airmen from the 349th Air Refueling Squadron will be joining Campers at Carnival Day at Sedgwick County Park and then again at Splash Pad Day at Riverside Park. In July, the Airmen will host Campers for a field troop to McConnell Air Force Base.

All families and friends of Rainbows’ children are invited to celebrate Rainbows’ 50th Birthday at the Wind Surge baseball game on Friday, June 24. To get your special discounted tickets, click here. Discount code is RAINBOWS.
