Formerly called Friends of Rainbows United, the Friends of the Heart had their first event in 2003, a book shower that collected nearly 100 books for Rainbows. This group was founded to enrich the lives of the children and families served by Rainbows through volunteerism, friend raising, and fundraising. They foster community support for Rainbows by increasing public awareness through special events and volunteer projects. In 2005 they started the first Fashion Passion event that raised over $16,000.
Since then, Fashion Passion has grown into the biggest fundraising night for Rainbows United and has grown every year thanks to the dedication of the Friends of the Heart. Over the past 10 years, Fashion Passion has generated $1 million for children with special needs and their families. Many of the Friends of Heart members that helped start Fashion Passion are still involved today! Fashion Passion growth of net proceeds:
