Having fun while providing learning experiences for your young child.

Handprint Valentine’s Day Crafts to do with your child

Hello February!

It’s that time of year again – all things pink and red overwhelm store shelves everywhere and chocolate hearts occupy the end of each aisle. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, check out these themed handprint crafts! They will be the perfect activity for you to do with your child leading up to next week’s holiday. These make great homemade cards and gifts for parents, grandparents, friends, etc.

These crafts are not only fun, but they also provide learning experiences for your young child. Art, in general, is a good way to support children with the development of fine motor skills as well as visual motor and visual perceptual skills, creative thinking, spatial awareness and problem solving. More specifically, activities like hand printing are a wonderful way to develop eye-hand coordination and bilateral hand integration (the use of two hands in a coordinated fashion).
