Assistant Teacher Appreciates Rainbows' Culture of Caring

On-the-job experience leads to career goals

Kailei Columbo enjoys working in all the classrooms at Kids’ Point. As an assistant teacher and a floater, Kailei is assigned to whichever classroom needs her the most on any given day. “Kailei is a great example of a staff person that began with little experience but took the time to ask questions and learn even when it was stressful,” said Michelle Croomes, Early Care and Education Program Coordinator. “Having a competent teacher who can immediately step in to help with different age groups is wonderful and a necessity for a good program,”

In August 2022, a family member told Kailei a position for a part-time para educator had opened up at Kids’ Point. Kailei immediately applied and began working as a closer. Now a full-time assistant teacher, Kailei’s favorite part of her job is seeing the kids grow from room to room. Currently, Kailei is interested in furthering her education by obtaining her Child Development Associate certification.

Kailei is grateful for the caring people at Rainbows. “When my oldest brother passed in October, everyone at Rainbows was very understanding and helpful throughout that time,” she said. “I could never thank them enough for everything they do for staff here at Rainbows.”

When she’s not teaching, Kailee is busy training her new puppy and watching her nephews reach milestones.
