Rainbows Gave Us Hope

Sass and Sparkle at Camp

When Lilly was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth, her doctor suggested her parents, Beatriz and Armando contact Rainbows. The family began receiving in-home services through Rainbows’ Infant/Toddler Services program. “Rainbows changed my life,” said Beatriz. “I learned a way to parent my child and it changed everything.”

“Rainbows gave me hope,” said Beatriz. “They taught me how to help her grow and how to dream with my daughter.”

Now a 14-year-old fashionista who loves to sing and dance, Lilly is excited for Camp Woodchuck this summer and is looking forward to the socializing with her peers. At Camp, Lilly doesn’t feel alone during the long summer vacation because she is with her friends and having fun.

She knows Camp will have something amazing for her to do. Her favorite parts of Camp are the Talent Show and Fashion Show where she can share her love of fashion and her talents for singing and dancing. “When Lilly started attending Camp, she was very shy,” said Beatriz. “Now she speaks more and is confident and everybody notices.”

“Lilly is full of sass and sparkle,” said Tiffany Graf, Family Support Services Coordinator and Camp Director. ‘She makes everybody smile and brings a positive energy with her to Camp.”

Last year, Lilly was invited to participate in the Splurge 316 Fashion Passion photo shoot. “Lilly loved being in front of the camera like that!” said Beatriz. “She felt like a model trying on all the clothes, then getting her hair and makeup done and posing for pictures. When she’s comfortable, she’s another person.”

Fun fact: Lilly has a dog she loves who is named Gucci.
