Warm spring weather brings many opportunities for families to get outside and enjoy all that makes Kansas special. If your family is into miniature golf, All Star Adventures of Wichita (Check it out!) is hosting National Mini Golf Day on Saturday, May 14. The first 100 guests will receive a free mini golf season pass.
Got a kid interested in science? Brain: The Inside Story is a traveling exhibit from March 5-September 5 at the Museum at Prairiefire in Overland Park (Check it out!). Embrace your inner cowboy/girl at the Prairie Rose Theater in Benton (Check it out!) On Saturday, May 7, starting at 9 a.m., there will be a Mountain Man Encampment, ranch roping and cowboy poetry competitions, and a chuck wagon dinner, featuring a stage show by the Prairie Rose Rangers. Additionally, Boot Hill Museum of Dodge City will host the annual Cowboy Heritage Festival (Check it out!) on May 6-7. Advance button sales are $4.00. In Newton, the Chisholm Trail Bike Ride (Check it out!) will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 7 with three-, 31- and 43-mile options. Pre-registration is required. Take a short drive south to Arkansas City and belly up to the Graves Drug old-fashioned Soda Fountain (Check it out!) , featuring real ice cream sodas, sandwiches and fresh pie. Explore the Kansas Sampler Festival, at Winfield, May 7-8 in Island Park (Check it out!). Celebrate everything that makes Kansas unique, with Kansas-made products, services, crafts and foods. Celebrate Father’s Day with a Kite Festival at Botanica Wichita (Check it out!). On June 21, dads get in free; everyone else is $5.00. Konza Prairie Check it out!) , south of Manhattan, has several easy hiking trails and a historic homestead with beautiful views of the Flint Hills. The 10th Annual Marble Day will be held on May 7 at the Moon Marble Company in Bonner Springs, (Check it out!) featuring a marble tournament and 5,000 marbles dumped on Main Street. Admission is free. On June 10-12 in Mayetta, the Prairie Band Potawatomie Pow Wow will be held (Check it out!), featuring drum and dance contest for all ages. Cowley County boasts 18 historical Stone Arch Bridges (Check it out!). Great for artists, photographers and history buffs! A Teddy Bear Picnic is fun for the young ones and their parents. The Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall (Check it out!) hosts this event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 8. Bring a blanket, picnic and favorite teddy. Have a little pirate or treasure hunter? The Stauth Memorial Museum in Montezuma has an interactive Hunt for Treasure exhibit (Check it out!) on display from March 13-May 29th
