Retired from INTRUST Bank N.A., Gary Proffitt joined Rainbows’ Board of Directors in January of 2010. He has served as Chair of the Human Resources Committee and Board Chair. He believes in Rainbows because we provide services to the community and region that are invaluable and not being provided by any other organization. Thus the importance of Rainbows United remains strong and vibrant.
Gary takes every opportunity to discuss Rainbows with friends and contacts. “I encourage people to support the organization by referring clients, volunteering and contributing to the financial needs of the organization.” When he’s not helping out at Rainbows, he enjoys travel, photography, golf and reading.
Married to Susan, they are parents to Stacy, Amy, and Kelly and proud grandparents of Julie, Jack, Addison, Erick and Isabelle.
Gary’s favorite quote is “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.” He explains “This quote is most often attributed to Abraham Lincoln, however many believe it was a Mark Twain quote, and still others believe they both first read it in Proverbs. I first heard it from my fifth grade teacher who clearly thought I should listen more and speak less. I am forever grateful to her for sharing this quote with me.”
