Melani Kliewer joined the Rainbows’ team in 2018 as Volunteer Coordinator. She brought with her a dedication to serving children and families. As Volunteer Coordinator, Melani works diligently to discover the needs of the Agency that might never happen without the talents and extra hands of volunteers. She then works with philanthropic, civic, corporate, and community groups to find a match for each project or need, secures supplies, coordinates schedules and ensures that the need is met and completed.
“I believe most people want to help others; they just don’t know how. With Rainbows United, once a person knows the mission, the stories and the many services that Rainbows provides, people want to be a part of this organization. Through my role as Volunteer Coordinator, I am able to share the mission, the stories and the services, and show people how they can help,” said Melani.
A wealth of not-for-profit experience, Melani is able to reach out with new ideas and look for the big picture when it comes to projects and events. She knows what it’s like to make everyone feel valued and secure donated items to meet a mission need.
In addition, Melani puts together employee profiles and writes family stories highlighting the children and families served through Rainbows’ services. She manages the Staff newsletter, Primary Colors, and the Volunteer newsletter, Spectrum. She also manages the weekly Studio Blog and is always on the lookout for compelling social media content and ways to make work fun.
Melani grew up in the Texas Hill Country and attended The University of Texas at Austin. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in English with an emphasis in Journalism and Marketing.
Melani practices yoga and meditation; is an avid Atlanta Braves’ fan; and March Madness is her favorite time of year.
