Preschool care = confidence and skill building

Kids’ Point Pre-K graduate Class of 2025

Pre-K graduation

Sharing the story of one of our Pre-Kindergarten graduates.

Five-year-old Ember knows everyone and isn’t shy about asking questions or taking the lead on an activity in her Pre-Kindergarten classroom at Rainbows Kids’ Point. Her mother, Gemma says, “I have noticed Ember become more confident and be her own person since going to Rainbows. She has always been outgoing, but Rainbows has really helped her work on her peer-to-peer relationships and how to respect others while not dimming herself.”

Gemma also notes that Ember’s conflict resolution skills have developed positively. “She has always been a little more aggressive at times when things do not go her way and she has come a long way in that regard from when she first started at Rainbows. She has more patience and can move through disappointment much quicker.”

The family had been familiar with Rainbows through volunteering and the fact that Ember’s grandmother Mary Jane, has worked at Rainbows since 2006, but when there was an emergency situation and Gemma needed a place for her daughter during the day she could trust, Rainbows was the answer.

“The communication and trust I have been able to have with the teachers and staff is so good, I have never worried about Ember,” said Gemma. “I knew that if Ember had a rough day that she would always be met with compassion and kindness. There are a lot of teachers and staff who went above and beyond in working with Ember. They helped make sure she felt safe while learning to navigate life without her dad, who passed away before she was three, and other things that she had went through.”

“As Ember’s grandmother, I will always be extremely grateful for the care and acceptance shown to my family when we have been through challenges,” said Mary Jane. “Since 2006 I have witnessed many circumstances where every teacher, para, volunteer has exhibited great care, guidance, and respect for each and every child in care.” She says she is proud to tell people she works for Rainbows.

Ember is an only child, but Gemma says, “she has 25 cousins we love to be around often.” Ember and Gemma like to play at the gymnastics gym and beat each other at board games.
